Privacy Policy

What information Rizes Hub collects, why, and how it's used and protected.

Last updated: 15 August 2026

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to everyone who uses Rizes Hub — whether you're browsing the site anonymously, searching the dictionary, studying a flashcard deck, or registered as a learner with an account. It explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have about it.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account details. If you create an account, we collect your display name, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password — we never store your password in plain, readable form.
  • Profile preferences. Your self-reported CEFR level and primary learning goal (learn, travel, exam, or work), used only to personalise your experience of the site — for example, which content is highlighted for you.
  • Anything you submit directly, such as a message through the Contact page, a blog comment, or a support enquiry.

Information collected automatically

  • Session data, used to keep you logged in securely while you use the site.
  • Basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and general usage patterns (which pages are visited, how search is used), collected in an aggregated or anonymised form to help us understand how the site is actually used and where it needs improvement.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect sensitive personal information beyond what's described above, and we do not require or request government identification, financial account details, or health information as part of using the core learning site.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide the core functionality of the site — letting you log in, track your learning progress, and personalise which content is shown to you.
  • To operate and improve features like flashcard progress tracking and saved dictionary words for registered users.
  • To respond to enquiries, feedback, or support requests you send us directly.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of the site, including detecting and preventing abuse or unauthorised access.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used, so we can prioritise which guides, tools, or fixes to work on next.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data to serve targeted advertising, since Rizes Hub does not carry third-party advertising.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Rizes Hub uses a small number of essential cookies required for core functionality — primarily to keep you logged in securely between page loads via your session. These are strictly necessary for the site to function and cannot be disabled without breaking login functionality. If we introduce analytics or preference cookies in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly, and where required by law, we will request your consent first.

5. How we protect your information

Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing, meaning even we cannot see your actual password. Access to the database and administrative tools is restricted to authorised staff with legitimate operational need, through a role-based permission system. That said, no online service can guarantee absolute security, and you should always use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Data sharing

We do not share your personal information with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers who help us operate the site (for example, hosting or email delivery providers), bound by their own confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Legal requirements, if we're required to disclose information to comply with a valid legal process, protect our rights, or protect the safety of our users or the public.
  • With your explicit consent, for any purpose not already covered by this policy.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain kinds of processing. You can update most of your account information directly through your account settings once logged in, or contact us using the details on the Contact page to make a request regarding your data, including account deletion.

8. Children's privacy

Rizes Hub is a language-learning resource that may be used by learners of various ages, including students studying Greek as part of school programs like the HSC or VCE. We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is necessary to provide the service, and we encourage parents and guardians to be involved in and aware of their children's use of the site, particularly regarding account creation.

9. Third-party links

Rizes Hub links out to a number of official third-party resources — government bodies, universities, and organisations like the Centre for the Greek Language, NESA, VCAA, and NAATI — referenced throughout our exam and study guides. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites, and we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit via a link from Rizes Hub.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the law, or the site's features. We'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when we do, and for significant changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify registered users directly.

11. Contact us
